- Karsyn's Home DayKare is open from 7am to 5:30pm, Monday through Friday. (Exceptions apply, see holiday closure page for more info)
3. Is your daycare licensed and insured?
- Yes, KHDK is a licensed and registered family daycare in Eugene, Oregon. Fully insured, ensuring the safety and well-being of your child while in care.
4. What is your caregiver-to-child ratio?
- Being a small in home daycare, the group of kiddos is about 6-8 kids at a time. Although Ms. Karsyn is licensed for up to 10 children at a time, she prefers to keep numbers smaller for more hands on attention and to ensure each child's needs are met.
5. How do you handle emergencies or medical situations?
- There is a well-defined emergency plan in place (given to parents and posted at the daycare as well) and Ms. Karsyn is trained in first aid and CPR. If any medical issues or emergencies arise, you will be contacted immediately.
6. What is your approach to discipline and behavior management?
- Karsyn’s Home DayKare believes that the discipline of a child is achieved through patience, consistency, and positive reinforcement. The children are taught that manners, kindness and being respectful to others is very important. One of the ways in which this is done is by example. The rules of the daycare are repeated frequently to kids, so they know what is expected of them.
7. Do you provide meals and snacks?
- Nutritious meals (breakfast & lunch) and PM snacks are provided, ensuring that every child receives the fuel they need for their adventures throughout the day. Dietary restrictions and allergies are accommodated to keep every child safe and satisfied. KHDK is also apart of the USDA Food Program.
8. Can parents visit or drop by during the day?
- Parents are welcome to visit or drop by anytime (besides quiet time from 1-3pm) during operating hours. Ms. Karsyn believes in open communication and transparency.
9. What is your sick child policy?
- There is a policy in place to ensure the health and well-being of all children in our care. For the health and safety of your child and all of the children at Karsyn’s Home DayKare, please do not bring your child to daycare sick. If you are not sure if your child should be brought to daycare, then please call your doctor and check. If a child becomes ill during daycare hours the parents will be contacted to pick up their child. Parents need to pick up their children within one hour of being notified.
10. Do you offer part-time or flexible schedules?
- Ms Karsyn offers both full-time and part-time schedules to accommodate your family's needs. (Note: days of care cannot be changed from week to week.) If you foresee needing a more flexible schedule, you are encouraged to consider adding days or going to full-time care.
11. How do you handle naptime and rest periods?
- There is a two (2) hour window of time in the day dedicated to quiet time, 1pm-3pm. Each child (6 weeks-5 years old) is required to be in their cot or/crib for a rest period of two (2) hours-depending on age. Young infants won’t be held to this standard because they haven't established a set routine yet. Children 5-10 years old get to have quiet time in the living room playing quietly with toys, books, tablets and can watch tv too.
12. What is your enrollment process?
- Enrollment process includes a tour of the daycare, completion of all required forms, and a discussion of your child's needs and schedule.
13. What makes your play-based approach unique?
- Ms. Karsyns play-based approach is designed to foster creativity, curiosity, and social development. She believes that children learn best through play and hands-on experiences.
14. What types of activities do you offer for children each day?
- Daily activities include a mix of free play, structured activities, outdoor play, arts and crafts, music, storytime, and more. We have weekly music classes from Mr. Noah with Tretter Studios during the school year (Sept-June) and water days in the summertime!
15. What should I pack/leave at daycare for my child?
- Head over to the "What to pack" for daycare page here for all the info on what to pack! Ms. Karsyn will let you know if any specific items are needed for special activities (like water days!) All items can be left onsite in the child's cubby.
16. What does the first payment look like?
- First invoice would include a (non-refundable) $75 yearly enrollment fee + a two week deposit (refundable-if all rules are followed) + one week or one months tuition- depending on how you prefer to pay.
